The Story of Doutores das Aguas
Doutores das Águas was founded in 2011, born out of expeditions deep in the Amazon organized by the sport fishing group PescAventura. During these journeys, entrepreneurs Mauro and Rubinho de Almeida Prado, alongside urologist Dr. Francisco Leão, started connecting with riverside communities, repeatedly hearing requests for medical care and access to essential medications.
Moved by the vast distances and limited access to basic health services, they joined forces with friends and partners to carry out their first healthcare-focused expedition.
With a small, borrowed boat, Kalua, and limited resources, they delivered medical and dental care to riverside communities for the very first time.
That initial expedition marked the beginning of Doutores das Águas - a project that has since grown steadily, expanding its reach and deepening its impact, always guided by respect, active listening, and a strong commitment to those living along the rivers of the Amazon region.
