We are Doutores das Águas (Doctors of the Waters) - a dedicated team navigating the rivers of the Amazon to bring medical & dental care, education, and cultural support to isolated riverside communities.
The work is rooted in first-hand experience across the Amazon region, where our close contact with the riverside communities has revealed how isolation restricts access to essential healthcare and education.
We exist to close the gap - because no one should be beyond the reach of basic healthcare just because of where they live.
Our Purpose
To facilitate access to healthcare for isolated riverside communities in the Amazon, delivering medical and dental care along with education through art, culture, and community engagement in places with limited access to basic healthcare services.
Beyond healthcare, education, and culture, we hope to build a more just, empowered, and dignified future for the riverside communities - the very people who care for the rainforest.

We integrate art, education, and environmental awareness as a driver of social transformation. Through creative workshops, theatre, and interactive activities, children, youth, and adults are encouraged to build up civic awareness and a strong sense of environmental responsibility.
Complementing this work, we promote sustainability and food security through practical guidance on sustainable agriculture - including composting, soil management, and planting - empowering communities while supporting environmental preservation.
Chiquinho is the playful heart of Doutores das Águas. Inspired by the spirit of the Amazon, he’s our little alligator who brings topics like health, care, nature, and the future to life in a fun and accessible way for children and riverside communities. Through play, art, and imagination, Chiquinho creates meaningful connections, turning learning activities into an engaging and memorable experience.
